I introduced two of my offspring to the wonder that is The Empire Strikes Back this evening. This momentous event entailed allowing them to stay up two hours late, but hey, it TESB. Anyway, I was curious to see how they would take the ending since they’re used to mainly kids’ movies with the occasional Monty Python movie thrown in (hey, don’t judge).

The youngest one had little interest except to ask where the “swords” went. The oldest of the group was pestered by me every few minutes as I asked how they were going to get Han out of the carbonite. This puzzled the child up until the very end. Once the credits began to roll, that one looked confused for a moment, and then said the following words- “that is so cool!” Yup. It does a geek mother proud.
